13 Years of Impact: Celebrating TCCF’s Anniversary
Thirteen years ago, a vision for a healthier, stronger Twin County region took shape. When the Twin County Community Foundation (TCCF) was formed on April 1, 2012, it was more than just the creation of an organization—it was a promise to invest in the future of Carroll County, Grayson County, and the City of Galax. What started as a commitment to preserving local healthcare resources has grown into a driving force for positive change, funding initiatives that support healthcare, education, and overall well-being in our community.
For the first five years, TCCF worked diligently to build the foundation necessary to make a lasting impact. Then, in March 2017, that vision became a reality as the Foundation awarded its first grants, transforming resources into meaningful action. Since then, TCCF has awarded more than $3.3 million in grants and scholarships, strengthening programs that uplift and empower residents across the region.
Each grant represents more than just financial support—it reflects the trust, generosity, and shared commitment of those who believe in a better future for our community. By working alongside local partners, TCCF ensures that every dollar given makes a real and lasting difference.
As we celebrate this milestone, we extend our gratitude to the individuals, organizations, and volunteers who have helped make this impact possible. But our work is far from over. You can be part of the next chapter—donate today and help us continue building a stronger, healthier Twin County region.
The Twin County Community Foundation (TCCF) has a legacy rooted in community health and well-being. Originally established in in July 1995 as the “Twin County Community Hospital Foundation,” the foundation was created to support the charitable needs of the Twin County Regional Hospital.
In a significant transition on April 1, 2012, 80% of the hospital’s interest was sold to Duke LifePoint, with the remaining 20% retained as a community asset. At this time, the foundation’s existing funds were transferred to the newly restructured Twin County Community Foundation, now an independent 501(c)(3) with its own governing board. According to the terms of the sales agreement, the proceeds will be allocated for community grants, starting after March 31, 2017, to support healthcare and education-related initiatives across the Twin Counties, in alignment with our updated mission to enhance the overall well-being of the community.
